The COVID-19 pandemic has tested people, industries, governments, and supply chains. Manufacturers and suppliers of personal protective equipment (PPE) have been working overtime to increase production in response to unprecedented international demand.

However, just as fear and anxiety have spread, so have good deeds. Companies, such as Architectural Plastics, are finding ways to give back to their communities, lending support to those who need it most during this pandemic.

Architectural Plastics, Inc. Leading by Example

Local businessman, Blake Miremont, owner of Petaluma-based factory, Architectural Plastics, recently made some drastic changes to his design fabrication facility in order to start producing face shields for health care workers and first responders.

Hearing about the lack of essential PPE gear for the people on the front lines of COVID-19 hit home as Miremont’s sister-in-law, who is a hospital administrator herself, made him aware of the shortage of face shields at her hospital.

In an attempt to lend a hand, Miremont started by ordering material for 60,000 shields. These shields are entirely plastic while still providing head size adjustability. This decision, however, was not about profitability. Around 5,000 shields have been donated to area hospitals and first responders so far with another 5,000 donations that will happen by the time production ends. Read the original media release here.

Architectural Plastics, Inc. serves a diverse set of industries by providing plastic sheet materials, large-scale production, acrylic cases, product displays, laboratory equipment, tradeshow exhibits, bespoke furniture, and now PPE gear to name a few.
