Petaluma Plastics Company Pivots to Sneeze Guards

Architectural Plastics, Inc. has always been a leader in plastic design, fabrication, and sheet distribution but has now turned its attention to see through, sneeze guard shields for COVID-19. 

Blake Miremont, CEO of API, recognized the need early on and pivoted his operation to be part of the solution during the pandemic. Most companies in Sonoma County were deemed non-essential and shut down, but those that were still operational urgently needed sneeze guards. Blake began ordering thousands of sheets of acrylic to ramp up production and supply the market.

When Sonoma County reopened its economy, the demand skyrocketed. While API usually goes through 500 sheets in a year, Blake has almost 2,000 sheets in-house and on order to meet the increased production. They have never seen this much material in their 16,000 square foot factory over their 40 years of operation.

Blake and his team are excited to be producing face shields that act as a barrier to droplet virus infections for companies. While this has given them lots of attention, they are much more than just a manufacturer of protective sneeze guards.

Architectural Plastics produces high-end acrylic furniture and display cases for large clients in the Northern California area, as well as throughout the United States, including museums, airports, and wine cellars. Their expertise in fabrication positioned them to quickly design and manufacture these face shields. They have also gone on to produce acrylic barriers between workers and open-air spaces for restaurants, offices, and numerous government agencies. Because they bought up all the acrylic sheets in California, they are also selling full sheets to buyers.
